Tours are by appointment only during the first two weeks of each month June, July and August. Call for reservations -Best to call at 7:30 AM. Individuals will be scheduled to go along with other group tours.

The two hour tours are typically between 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon. In June weekend tours are available (first two weeks), but July and August are weekdays only.

General tours encompass a wide variety of subjects, including local area history, botany, entomology, geology, etc. However, specialized tours in any field can be requested.

River Glen Gardens features 75 acres of trees, planted flowers, wildflowers, a Japanese garden, and a private lake nestled along the winding Sauk River. The 2 hour guided tour includes an explanation of the Bison & Horse skeleton from the pleistoscene in the River Glen Gardens museum which were found on site. Also a walk through the unique home of owner Ron Wienhold.

Admission is $3 for adults, no charge for children.

Directions: From the intersection of Third Avenue and Broadway in Alexandria, follow State highway 27 east to Osakis. Go through Osakis and follow State Highway 27 as it turns north and then east again. At U.S. Highway 71, turn south one mile and then turn west (right) into Little Sauk. At the old, abandoned brick post office in Little Sauk, look west (left) to County Road 97. Take County Road 97 about a block and a half around the bend in the river. (The gardens are not visible from the road.) Park on the road and meet at the gate at the designated time for the tour.
